Update19/07/2024, 08:17

We’ve just had a sneak preview of the design of the Sky Cipher controller. And it will indeed be a blue controller with a slightly transparent look, just like the Forza Horizon 5 controller due for release in 2021.

The original article was published on 18/07/2024 at 16:46 (London time).

Despite the many rumours of a June release for the long-awaited Xbox wireless controller, codenamed ‘Sebile’, no announcement has been made so far. The controller’s features were accidentally leaked in Microsoft’s case against the US regulatory authority, the FTC.

The feature most anticipated by Xbox gamers is without a doubt the integration of haptic feedback in the controller, expected to be similar to that of the PS5 DualSense.

Although we can’t confirm that the controller has been cancelled or postponed, we can however reveal a whole host of details about the next Xbox controller. Read on to find out more.

What we know about the new Xbox controller due for release in August 2024

Following recent research from Dealabs Magazine’s billbil-kun, we’ve managed to gather a bunch of information about the new Xbox wireless controller due to be released in August 2024.

Official name and design

The new wireless Xbox controller will have the following name: Xbox Wireless Controller – Sky Cipher Special Edition.

As we couldn’t get hold of any images, we don’t know what the design will be for the controller. However, we were able to find out that the controller will be in a blue colour, as you may have guessed from its official name.

Following our update to this article, the controller will have a slightly transparent look, allowing you to see the internal components located on the front of the controller. This transparent look is similar to that of the Forza Horizon 5 controller, which was released in 2021.

Announcement and release date

According to our information, the Sky Cipher Xbox controller is due to be announced on 31 July 2024. Preorders will also begin on the same day.

The controller’s release date, on the other hand, remains unlclear. There are a few potential options with the most likely being 13 August 2024.

PricesXbox Wireless Controller

Below are the prices we have been able to recover for the Sky Cipher controller:

  • £64.99 (estimated price valid in the UK)
  • €69.99 (price valid in France and all countries where the main currency is the euro)
  • $69.99 (price valid in the United States)

Integrated haptic feedback?

Unfortunately, we don’t have the answer to this just yet. But we’ll be sure to keep you up to date if any new information comes to light about this new controller.
