Big news for Call of Duty fans! Activision’s iconic shooter, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3), is the first CoD title to join Xbox Game Pass since Microsoft’s $67 billion acquisition of Activision-Blizzard.

Mark your calendars, because MW3 drops today (24 July) for both console and PC players.

Why you want Modern Warfare 3?

MW3 picks up right after the record-breaking Modern Warfare 2. Captain Price and Task Force 141 return to combat the ruthless Vladimir Makarov, whose war crimes have plunged the world into chaos. Brace yourself for a heart-pounding experience as Task Force 141 fights for survival.

What is Xbox Game Pass?

Been living under a rock and not familiar with Game Pass? It’s essentially a subscription service available to Xbox and PC players (you can also stream games via a Fire TV Stick 4K) with a Microsoft account. It was recently announced that the service will be increasing its prices in September, so it might be a good time to sign up.

For a monthly fee, you gain access to a vast library of high-quality games, including new releases. Plus, you can team up with friends across consoles and PC for endless entertainment.

It’s worth noting that you can get a 12-month membership to Game Pass Core for £32.99 at CD Keys at the moment. This will give you access to the Multiplayer part of the game, but not the campaign.

Finding the correct Game Pass plan for MW3

There are three Game Pass options, each offering different access to MW3:

• Game Pass Ultimate: This top-tier plan grants access to the full MW3 experience – Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies — on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Ultimate subscribers will receive the Digital Cross-Gen Bundle on Xbox and the Standard Edition on PC.
• Game Pass PC: MW3 Campaign, battle it out in Multiplayer, and survive the undead onslaught in Zombies. PC Game Pass subscribers get the Standard Edition through the PC Microsoft Store.
• Game Pass Console: This plan offers the MW3 Campaign only on Xbox consoles. To access online Multiplayer and Zombies modes, you’ll need to upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate or add Game Pass Core (another subscription). Console players with Game Pass will receive the Digital Cross-Gen Bundle.
