GAME announces the end of its Reward and Elite Membership Schemes this summer. Users can earn and redeem points until a set deadline.
GAME UK has announced the imminent closure of its GAME Reward points and GAME Elite Membership Scheme. As of 31 July 2024, all customers and GAME REWARD and Elite members will no longer have the possibility to earn or, more importantly, redeem any points on purchases. Points can still be earned on purchases until 15 July 2024, after which no further points will be accrued.
If you pay for a GAME Elite Membership, you don’t need to worry. All the direct debit payments will stop from June onwards, though due to the usual 14-day cancellation period, you may still have payments taken in June. All withdrawals should stop completely from July, if this is not the case, contact GAME’s customer support.
When it comes to using all of your points up, Elite Members will get a separate email by 16 July detailing their points balance. Then they have until 15 July to use them up.
This move aims to adapt and modernise GAME’s reward system, reflecting customer behaviours and gaming trends. The company has also encouraged its users to use their points before the closure date to prevent any disappointment. Accounts will be closed and points reset to zero after the closure date. Also, refunds post-closure will be offered as e-vouchers to the value of the points used.
While this announcement may come as a surprise to many dedicated gamers, the closure will have no effect on the availability of games, equipment or accessories on the GAME website or in stores. Moreover, personal data related to the GAME Reward accounts will be retained in adherence with the company’s privacy policy.
