The Google Pixel Watch 3 is set to cause a stir! But what does this new generation of smartwatches have in store? Let’s find out together.
The rumours surrounding the next Google Pixel Watch 3 smartwatch are starting to grow. Just a few days before the Made by Google event, leaks have revealed information about the much-anticipated Pixel Watch 3. With new features and a revised design, Google’s next generation of connected smartwatches promises significant innovation, although this could mean a higher price tag for consumers.
Let’s find out what we know so far about the next generation of Google smartwatches.
There’s currently no official announcement of a release date for the Google Pixel Watch 3. However, it will likely be presented at a dedicated Google event, alongside the new Pixel smartphones.
And what better occasion than the Made by Google event scheduled for 13 August 2024, where Google is expected to present the Pixel 9 smartphones?
While information is still sketchy, it seems that Google is preparing something big for its third-generation smartwatch. A bigger, brighter screen is on the cards, which would be great news for fans of large watchfaces.
According to Tom’s Guide, the Pixel Watch 3 could be available in two sizes: 41 mm and 45 mm. Indeed, Google is reportedly planning a “Pixel Watch 3 XL“, coming with a 1.4-inch screen and a wider 45mm case, thus meeting the expectations of users looking for a larger screen.
Renderings shared by Android Authority suggest that the Pixel Watch 3 would sport a smaller bezel, dropping from 5.5mm wide to 4.5mm. Nevertheless, according to the leaked images, the new watch should retain the classic design of the Pixel Watch range.
In terms of brightness, Tom’s Guide reports a doubling of maximum brightness compared with the Pixel Watch 2, from 1,000 nits to 2,000 nits.
Also according to Android Authority, new colours will be available, including a pink strap. Leaker billbil-kun adds to this information by revealing the colours expected for the Pixel Watch 3: Obsidian, Porcelain, Hazel and Pink.
One of the strong points of smartwatches is their ability to monitor health and sporting activity. So it’s fair to wonder what new features Google’s new smartwatches could bring. New sensors, more accurate data, more advanced coaching functions? The possibilities are endless.
Logically, the Pixel Watch 3 should benefit from the new Wear OS 5 operating system. This improved operating system promises to improve fitness tracking data. Wear OS 5 is also expected to optimise battery performance, offering longer battery life, a significant benefit for active users.
In addition, the update upgrades sports tracking with more precise data such as vertical oscillation, stride length and ground contact time.
In addition, one of the most eagerly awaited features is support for Google’s recently launched Find My Device offline network. This will allow users to locate their watch even when it’s not connected to the internet, adding an extra layer of security. Indeed, Find My Device is a Google service that helps you find your lost Android devices.
What’s more, and according to 9to5Google, the Pixel Watch 3 could well revolutionise the user experience thanks to the integration of UWB (Ultra Wideband) technology.
UWB is a wireless communication technology that enables objects to be located with great precision, even through walls. By integrating it into the Pixel Watch 3, Google would be considerably improving the Watch Unlock function. This function, which enables users to unlock their smartphone simply by being close to their smartwatch, would be faster and more reliable thanks to UWB.
According to a post by billbil-kun that we translated into English, the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi version of the Google Pixel Watch 3 will be available at the same price as the Pixel Watch 2. However, the 4G LTE + Bluetooth/Wi-Fi version is expected to be £50 more expensive.

As 13 August approaches, the excitement surrounding the new Google Pixel Watch is only growing. With an improved design, new features such as Find My Device and a user experience enriched by Wear OS 5, this new smartwatch will be the first of its kind on the market.
