Is there a release date set for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6?
According to SamMobile, Samsung is planning to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6 at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. The South Korean company has not yet officially announced the date of this event. However, numerous sources indicate that it will take place on 10 July 2024.
Tom’s Guide adds to this information by saying that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be scheduled for release in August 2024.
The Galaxy Unpacked is a biannual event organised by Samsung. It’s an opportunity for the brand to present its new products, mainly smartphones, tablets and connected objects.
This year is no exception, with technology fans the world over eagerly awaiting the presentation of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6! The Galaxy Z Fold series is capturing attention with its cutting-edge features.
Design and screen
Smartprix, in partnership with OnLeaks, has revealed detailed 360-degree video and 5K renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The images offer a comprehensive look at the phone from all angles, highlighting its sleek design.
According to Smartprix, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature a distinctive square design. This is said to borrow aesthetic elements from the recent Galaxy S24. The flat sides are also said to give it a premium look.
According to Tom’s Guide, the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s inner screen will measure 7.6 inches. Smartprix provides more details, indicating that the outer screen will measure 6.2 inches. Both are said to use Dynamic AMOLED technology with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. For added strength, Corning Gorilla Glass Armor could also be used for the outer screen.
Smartprix goes on to say that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be the same thickness as its predecessor, at 6.1 mm. Finally, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will reportedly have no support or storage slot for the S Pen.
Smarprix goes further in its comparison with the Galaxy S24, stating that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature the same ports. It would feature 3 microphones and a speaker grille at the top, as well as a USB-C port, another microphone and a speaker grille at the bottom.
When opened out, the smartphone would measure 153.5 x 132.5 x 6.1 mm.
Processor and performance
According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
With a 12GB RAM configuration and support for Android 14 with the One UI 6.1.1 interface, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is said to offer improved fluidity and responsiveness. Although the initial version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is equipped with 12GB of RAM, it is likely that a variant with 16GB of RAM will also be launched.
Camera
On the camera front, Smartprix reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature a triple camera system on the rear, with a similar layout to the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Tom’s Guide adds to this, stating that the full specifications of the Fold 6’s camera system would be as follows:
- 50MP main sensor
- 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens
- 10MP telephoto lens
- 10MP selfie camera
- 4 MP under-screen camera
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra in the works?

- The Ultra model could adopt a thinner and lighter design. According to Winfuture-de, Samsung could improve the design of the smartphone to reduce thickness and improve ergonomics compared to previous models.
- One of the most anticipated features could be the inclusion of a dedicated slot for the S Pen stylus.
- It’s also possible that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra will get a significant upgrade to its camera system, potentially with a 200MP main sensor.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 price
There’s not a lot of information out there about the price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, but given the expected specifications, especially for the possible Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, the prices of these smartphones could be high, even very high.
For your information, here are the prices for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, unveiled on 26 July 2023:
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 256 GB: £1,749
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 512 GB: £1,849
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 1 TB: £2,049
A few days ago, SmartPrix published an article announcing that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 would be subject to a $100 price increase in the US market compared with its predecessor. Will the same apply to the Galaxy Z Fold 6? Will the same increase be applied to the European market? We’ll have the answer in a few weeks’ time.
With improved performance, innovative features and a (perhaps?) diversified range, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could allow Samsung to show its leadership in the field of foldable smartphones. The Galaxy Unpacked event should provide an opportunity to discover not only the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, but also other new products that are likely to be the talk of the town over the coming months.
