Prepare to embark on a unique journey to feudal Japan in the upcoming title from the acclaimed Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. To fuel the excitement, pre-orders come with a host of appealing bonuses.
If you follow gaming, then you are probably fully aware that Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes us to feudal Japan. Players can take control of both Naoe, a deadly shinobi or ninja, and Yasuke, a legendary African samurai warrior.
While the prospect of this dynamic duo is exciting to a lot of players, some fans are understandably wary. The franchise’s recent shift towards RPG elements and all out battles has divided the community, and Shadows seems to lean further in that direction rather than the stealth games at the heart of Assassin’s Creed.
Pre-ordering Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers enticing bonuses. The standard pre-order grants the “Thrown to the Dogs” quest, while retailers offer exclusive character packs.
For example, GAME has the Special Edition which dangles the Sekiryu character pack for £64.99 on the PS5.
The Ultimate Edition (and actually the Ubisoft+ edition, so you could essentially sign up for a month to play) goes a step further with three days’ early access, a Season Pass, and a digital Sekiryu character pack for £114.99 (wow).
The game will be available for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, in three tiers: Standard, Gold and Ultimate Edition.
Pre-ordering guarantees your copy on or before release day, on 15 November, 2024, but for some, waiting for reviews might be the wiser path.
Despite the pre-order goodies, some questions linger. Will the RPG elements overshadow the core Assassin’s Creed experience? And how will the dual-protagonist system be implemented?
Shadows holds the potential to be a thrilling historical adventure, but again cautious optimism seems to be the prevailing sentiment for now.
