Travel back to Middle-earth for free! Samsung is now showing the first season of The Rings of Power for free in the Samsung TV Plus app – only until 28 August.
Are you both a Lord of the Rings fan and the owner of a Samsung TV or Samsung Galaxy device? Then you now have a double reason to rejoice. Samsung has surprisingly announced today that the first season of the Prime Video-exclusive series Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is now available to stream for free via the Samsung TV Plus app until 28 August.
A clever marketing move, as the second season is already in the starting blocks and will be available exclusively on Amazon’s streaming service on 29 August. So if you don’t currently have a Prime subscription, now is a good time to take a look at the most expensive series production of all time.
How to watch ‘The Rings of Power’ for free on Samsung TV Plus
So, Samsung now has its own ‘Plus’ streaming service? Admittedly, the naming à la Disney, Paramount, RTL and co. is not particularly creative, but unlike the other streamers, Samsung TV Plus is completely free to use. However, the ad-financed service is only available from Samsung Smart TVs and Samsung Galaxy devices. In the app you will find a variety of free live channels and on-demand videos.
The Samsung Galaxy TV Plus app is pre-installed on your Samsung devices as standard. So you don’t need to download it separately. If you can’t find the app on your device, you can simply download it from the Galaxy Store.
In the UK, you can watch all episodes of the first season of the popular Lord of the Rings series in the linear programme on the Entertainment Mix channel #4001 as well as on-demand via the ‘Discover’ tab of the Samsung TV Plus app. Further information about the app is available directly from Samsung.
What is Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power about?
The first TV series from Tolkien’s world is a classic prequel narrative that has attempted to continue the legacy of arguably the greatest fantasy tale of all time with dignity, while setting new standards in series production. It takes you back in time to the Second Age of Middle-earth, long before Frodo Baggins wears the Ring. It centres on the creation of the Rings of Power and the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron.
Even though the first season was not met with enthusiasm by all die-hard Tolkien fans, it won over critics and fantasy fans all over the world and currently has a Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 83%. This is reason enough to look forward to the second season or quickly watch the first episodes again in the Samsung TV Plus app as a refresher.
