It’s been almost a year now since the announcement of the latest rail simulation game, Train Sim World 4. And some fans are wondering whether there will be a new game in the TSW franchise this year – Train Sim World 5.

While there are no reliable rumours circulating on the net, we have been able to gather some information about the new game being developed by Dovetail Games. Let’s find out without further ado.

An announcement and release date imminent for the new Train Sim World

Although we haven’t been able to pinpoint the full name of the game, we assume that Dovetail Games’ new rail simulation game will be called Train Sim World 5.

On 6 August, Dovetail Games announced their next Dovetail Direct event, where the studio will be making a number of announcements about their video games. With the date set for 20 August at 3 pm (UK time), this is where the announcement of the new Train Sim World game will take place.

This date will also coincide with the opening of pre-orders for the various editions of the game.

Release date

According to our information, the new Train Sim World game will be released on 17 September 2024. This release date will apply to all editions of the game.

Editions and prices

Below is a list of all the editions that will be available for pre-order from 20 August onwards, along with their associated prices on PC and consoles:

• Train Sim World 5 – Standard Edition: £39.99 / €44.99 / $49.99.
• Train Sim World 5 – Deluxe Edition: £59.99 / €74.99 / $74.99.
• Train Sim World 5 – Special Edition: £104.99 / €119.99 / $119.99.

Each edition adds new railway lines to the base game, with more locomotives available. Details of the content of these editions are not yet available.

The price of the different editions has risen considerably compared with Train Sim World 4. Will this mean a reworking of the game rather than an update to justify the higher prices? We’ll find out on Tuesday 20 August.
