Assassin’s Creed’s Japan adventure sheds its codename for “Shadows,” hinting at a stealthy focus. A cinematic trailer arrives 15 May, while Ubisoft teases more info coming soon.
Ubisoft has finally unveiled the official title for its upcoming Japan-based Assassin’s Creed game — Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Ditching its previous codename “Red,” the title hints at a more stealth-focused experience. Luckily, we won’t have to wait long for a glimpse of the game, as a cinematic trailer premieres tomorrow on 15 May at 4pm.
While the trailer likely won’t feature gameplay, expect more details at the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event on 10 June. Social media channels are already buzzing with an “hourglass puzzle” that players can solve for a potential reward.
Shadows is positioned as the future of open-world RPG experiences and will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and surprisingly, PS4, but not Xbox One.

I also noticed at the end of the trailer that the hidden blade has been given a cheeky upgrade…
