There’s some new Apple trade-in offers at electronics retailer Currys. You can get up to £100 off your next purchase by bringing in old devices.
As this is a fairly new offer, not many people have heard about it. But you can trade in older Apple devices — iPhones, MacBooks, Apple Watches — and earn up to £100 depending on the year of production.
Take your near-worthless Apple watches, for example, and get yourself £50 off the next one. Or take in your grubby MacBook Air from 2017 and get up to £100 off the new shiny one. It’s as simple as that.
It seems that 2016 is the cut off for old tech, so you won’t get anything for your knackered old iPhone 6, but you might get a few pounds for an iPhone 8 in working order.
The Apple trade-in offer is available now until the 21 March, so you’d better get down to Currys quick!
What’s included in the Apple trade-in offer?
All Apple devices from late 2016 are good to trade in. Apple Watches, iPhones and iPads, MacBook (Air and Pro) and even Mac Minis are all eligible for money back.
There are a few caveats to bear in mind, such as the amount of money you get back will depend on the condition of the device. Also if it is working or not, and if the device is ‘Beyond Economic Repair’ then you won’t get anything. After all, they want to make money off it.
If the device passes inspection, the trade-in credit or discount is applied towards the purchase of a new device. However, if the device does not meet the agreed-upon criteria, it may be rejected or the trade-in value may be adjusted accordingly.
When you hand over the device, Currys staff will delete any remaining data securely before sending it to a third-party for reuse or recycling. Whoever that may be!
It’s good to know that the majority of devices are sent to developing markets with a rapidly increasing demand for laptops and tablets.
“Terms and Conditions: Initial Trade-in value will vary dependent on device. Offer only available when you trade in store and online from 01.03.23 until 21.03.23.“
