Here’s a sneak peek at the forthcoming Garmin Vivoactive 5 smartwatch! We’re sharing all the details – price, specifications, launch date – with you ahead of time.
Updated 21/09/2023
It’s now official, the Garmin Vivoactive 5 smartwatch has been released, confirming all the information we revealed to you. It looks very cool too!
As some of you already know, Garmin unveiled their new Venu 3 and 3S smartwatches in late August. It seems they’re now gearing up to introduce the successor to their Vivoactive 4 range – the new Garmin Vivoactive 5!
No leaks have been spilled about the Vivoactive 5, but fear not! We’ve exclusively gathered all the key details about this innovative connected watch just for you.
What updates does the watch incorporate?
We’ve noticed that the Garmin Vivoactive 5 incorporates several new features that were first seen in the recently released Garmin Venu 3. These include a wheelchair mode, sleep coaching, midday sleep tracking, meditation functionality, a morning report, and heart rate variability monitoring.
A significant enhancement in the Vivoactive 5 lies in the screen technology. Garmin has made the dive from MIP (Memory In Pixel) display, which was being used in earlier vivoactive models, to AMOLED for the Vivoactive 5 series. You might assume this transition would cut down on battery life, but rest assured, battery longevity is actually improved compared to the Vivoactive 4.
When connected, the Vivoactive 5 can run up to 11 days, as opposed to the 8 and 7 days for the Vivoactive 4 and 4S, respectively. In GPS mode, the battery life drops but still lasts up to an impressive 21 hours compared to the 18 and 15 hours for the Vivoactive 4 and 4S, respectively.
An interesting departure for this new model is the single dial size being offered. Unlike 40mm for the Vivoactive 4S and 45mm for the Vivoactive 4, the Vivoactive 5 will only be offered in a 42mm dial size.
In terms of materials, the Vivoactive 5 has transitioned from a stainless steel to an aluminum bezel.
What does the watch look like?
While we managed to get hold of the smartwatch visuals, legal restrictions prevent us from sharing them. But what we can tell you is that it bears a strong resemblance to the Vivoactive 4S, with the exception of the bezel design.
