Partnering with major studios, Tubi boasts over 20,000 titles, from Hollywood hits to cult favourites. Find out more.

A new competitor has entered the streaming market, and it’s completely free. Tubi, the ad-supported streaming service that’s already amassed nearly 80 million monthly users in the US, has officially launched in the UK.

While Tubi might not boast brand new releases, it makes up for it in sheer volume and there are some absolute classics on there. But with over 20,000 films and TV series, you’re sure to find hidden gems and nostalgic favourites all at absolutely no cost. Yes, you read that right — free and legal entertainment.

Now, there is a slight catch — adverts. Tubi uses ads to keep the service running, but for those willing to look past the ‘occasional commercial break’, there’s a big library to explore. From Hollywood blockbusters to cult classics and hidden gems — like Happy Gilmore, Billy Elliot, Pacific Rim: Uprising, and The Twilight Saga —Tubi caters to a wide range of tastes.

However, it might not be for the more discerning viewer, as there is a lot of B-movie content on there too.

“This is pretty great, I use the USA version and there’s a decent selection of classic horror films and found footage plus all the kitchen nightmares and man Vs food.”

The platform celebrates its content deals with major studios like Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, and Sony Pictures, so you can expect to find a mix of popular favourites alongside independent films and nostalgic shows from the 90s and before.

Tubi is aiming to disrupt the streaming market currently dominated by Netflix, Disney+, ITVX, Channel 4, and BBC iPlayer. With its free, ad-supported model, Tubi offers a budget-friendly option for viewers seeking a diverse selection of content.

How to download Tubi

You can get the app from various places:

  • Tubi on App Store
  • Google Play
  • Microsoft Store

You can also search for the app on your smart TV operating system, such as Samsung TV. So, what are you waiting for? Head over to Tubi and start exploring!

And for those who truly can’t stand ads, using a VPN might be the answer, but whether you choose to embrace the occasional commercial break or go the VPN route, Tubi offers yet another free way to fill your viewing time.
