The Google Pixel 9 has finally been released after rumours have been going around for months about its design, features and price.
According to leaks, the Pixel 9 was said to sport a new design, similar to that of the iPhone 15. There was also talk of a more powerful processor and a better camera.
It was hoped that the price would remain similar to that of the Pixel 8, but a higher-end version could prove more expensive.
So, what can we expect from the Pixel 9? We’ve rounded up all the latest information and specs from the Made by Google event.
Google has surprised everyone. While the Google Pixel 9 was expected to be released at the end of 2024, the Californian firm has decided otherwise. The Made by Google event was held on 13 August 2024. At the event, Google presented details of the new smartphones in the Pixel 9 range.
The new Pixel 9s have been available for pre-order since 13 August 2024, with delivery scheduled for 22 August 2024.
This the biggest change of the year: Google is moving away from its traditional line-up. For 2024, the American firm is offering not 2, not 3, but 4 Pixel 9 smartphones. The Pixel 9 is the standard model, while the Pro models offer high-end features and more powerful specifications:
The dimensions of the Pixel 9 are as follows:
The Pixel 9 does feature a dual rear camera but without a telephoto lens. The Pro version retains the Pixel 9’s aesthetic codes while offering more advanced features, including a telephoto lens and a better screen. Finally, the ultimate Pixel 9 is said to feature a triple rear camera and premium materials.
Overall, the Pixel 9 series adopts a more modern design. It features flat edges and rounded corners, inspired by the Apple iPhone.
Here are the Google Pixel 9 colours, some of which have never been seen before:
All Google Pixel 9 models feature OLED screens, offering vivid colours and rich dark tones. What’s more, all screens support a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Pixel 9 has a slightly smaller screen than the Pro, at 160 mm compared to 161 mm for the Google Pixel 9 Pro. The Pixel 9 Pro XL has the largest screen diagonal, at 171 mm. Unfolded, the Pro Fold reaches a screen size of 204 mm.
In summary, the screen characteristics of the Google Pixel 9 range are as follows:
The Pixel 9 series introduces the Google Tensor G4 processor, designed to deliver improved artificial intelligence performance. This translates into faster, smarter features such as improved photo and video capture, more responsive voice assistance and more immersive gaming experiences.
All smartphones in the series also feature a Titan M2 security coprocessor.
The Pixel 9, 9 pro and 9 Pro XL come with 128GB of storage or more. However, only the Pixel 9 comes with 12GB of RAM, unlike the other three, which have 16GB.
Pixel smartphones are known for their excellent cameras, and the Pixel 9 continues that tradition.
The Pixel 9 Pro features a triple-lens camera system. This includes a 50 MP main camera, a 48 MP telephoto lens and a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The Pixel 9 makes do with a dual-lens camera system, with a 50 MP main camera and a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
The Pixel 9 and 9 Pro Fold come with a 10.5 MP Dual PD front lens with autofocus for selfies. The 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL go much further, with a 42 MP Dual PD camera.
The veil has finally been lifted on the prices of the Pixel 9! Find out below what you can expect to pay for the new smartphones.

If we take a quick look at the prices, the Pixel 9 is £100 more expensive than the launch price of the Pixel 8, which was released for £699 in 2023.
