A year has passed since Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was first announced. This is the remake of the 2004 title Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, developed and published by Konami. The first announcement was made at the 2023 PlayStation Showcase. The game will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X and S as well as on PC via Steam.

Shortly afterwards, a second trailer for the game was released at the Xbox Partner Preview in October 2023. It showed a first glimpse of the Unreal Engine 5 game engine.

Following our recent research, we’ve just got our hands on a number of previously unrevealed details. We’ll tell you everything we know about the game in this article, but first, let’s have a bit of context.

No release date yet

In both the first and second trailers, no release date or even year was mentioned. However, a PlayStation video was released earlier this year showing the most eagerly-awaited games of 2024. And one of those titles is: MGS Delta: Snake Eater!

At the time of writing, the title is still listed on this page of the official PlayStation website. It summarises the most eagerly-awaited titles of 2024 that were presented in the video mentioned above.

Has a release date for MGS Δ: Snake Eater been pushed back?

And that’s the most important piece of information in this article. To be precise, we’ve found a release year for this remake that’s been set for… 2025!

We prefer to speak hypothetically here, as we have not been able to confirm this information with at least a second source. And it would contradict the information shared by PlayStation earlier this year, which stated that the game would be released in 2024.

For the record, we found this 2025 release date referenced by a global retail giant. The latter had set a temporary release date (or ‘placeholder’) for physical copies of the game on 31/12/2025.

An upcoming announcement

We’ve also seen a number of internal updates about the game. And with the aforementioned new data on physical copies of the next Metal Gear Solid, we think a new announcement is closer than ever.

We anticipate that this new announcement will take place within the next 10 days, with a possible date of 6 June 2024. Pre-orders will open shortly after the announcement.

Again according to our information, here are the different editions of the game in physical format with their prices valid in the United States:

• Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater – Standard Edition (PS5 / Xbox Series X): $69.99
• Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater – Collector’s Edition (PS5 / Xbox Series X): $199.99

So we don’t yet know what the Collector’s Edition will contain.
