After the false hope launched by an alleged leaker about an imminent release, we are still waiting for the PC port of The Last of Us Part 2. While the remastered version was released on PS5 in early 2024, what about the PC version of the game? And is it really under development?
A year after the release of the first opus of The Last of Us on PC, PC gamers are impatiently awaiting the release of TLOU 2 on their platform. So can we hope for an upcoming release?
It’s now been over a year since the release of PlayStation exclusive The Last of Us Part I on PC. This release also coincided with the broadcast of the first season of the series The Last of Us on HBO.
PC gamers are impatiently awaiting the continuation of Ellie’s adventures with the release of the second opus on their favourite platform.
A glimmer of hope… gone up in smoke
However, hope was born at the beginning of the year, after an alleged leaker announced the arrival of The Last of Us Part II on PC in April 2024. The mysterious user on X/Twitter responding to the nickname “Silknigth” announced it on the social network last March.
And as we reported in our article on the release of God of War Ragnarök on PC, this user was denied by Jason Schreier. This Bloomberg journalist had indeed pinpointed some of the Silknigth rumours as being false.
Since then, the game has still not been released on PC and we still have no official information regarding this port. The user Silknigth has also permanently deleted his X/Twitter account.
Our information on the PC port of The Last of Us Part 2
Furthermore, and this is the most important information in this article, billbil believes that the development of the game is well finished, and this dates back to at least November 2021.
So, we can wonder about the reasons for such a lack of release so far. Especially since the game was already released in a remastered version in January 2024 on PS5. Could a simultaneous release with season 2 of the HBO series scheduled for 2025 be the cause?
In the meantime, we will obviously keep you informed as soon as we have any new information about the game’s release.
