Amazon’s Fire TV Soundbar offers a compact design, immersive features, and easy setup – all for under £100. But is it any good?
Amazon is entering the soundbar market with the Fire TV Soundbar, a supposedly budget-friendly option priced at £99.99 (currently on pre-order and due to be released on 29 July). But it must be asked, at this price is it a bargain or a feature-lite compromise?
The Fire TV Soundbar boasts a compact design that improves your TVs audio, promising fuller sound, clearer dialogue, and deeper bass than your TV’s built-in speakers. However, it uses two 20-watt speakers, which some might find underwhelming considering the price.
However, it offers immersive sound with DTS Virtual:X technology, creating a virtual surround sound experience. Dolby Audio support further enhances sound detail and clarity.
Versatility is another plus. When not watching TV, connect your phone or tablet via Bluetooth and stream your favourite music rather than using a smart speaker.
The Fire TV Soundbar integrates seamlessly with Fire TV devices, allowing you to control both your TV and audio with a single remote. It’s also compatible with other smart TVs and those connected to streaming media players.
Pros
Cons
While the Fire TV Soundbar offers a compelling option for those seeking a simple audio upgrade at a budget price, the lack of features like built-in Wi-Fi or Alexa voice control might leave some wanting more.
It would have made sense to include a Fire TV device inside, as that would have given it a unique selling point and brought it alongside the Roku bar.
“Don’t understand why they’d launch a soundbar without Fire built in (like the Roku soundbar) … that’s kind of their thing! I think you’d have to be a fool to get this with other options around this price point”
